Special Project: PUBLIC FORESTS CENTENNIAL
This year marks the 100 year anniversary of BC's first Royal Commission on forests, which was the beginning of formal forest management practices in BC. Although the Fulton Report is a century old, it contains many progressive ideas, particularly keeping our forest lands under public ownership and preventing their misuse. Very applicable for today.
We at the British Columbia Forest Society think that BC now has an opportunity to rethink the way we have been doing forestry, pay attention to the Fulton principles, and give people the chance to become more responsible for their forest resources.
For more information, please visit the Public
Forests Centennial section or download the report [PDF]. We always welcome participation, so if you'd like to get involved, please contact us.
About Us: We are a non-profit society located in Victoria BC,
Canada, operating since 2004. Our main goal is to encourage public
participation and contribution to sustainable
forest management (SFM) in our province and act as a watchdog.
Join us to increase the opportunities for meaningful
public discussion and debate about SFM, and to improve forest information
and education as a base for people to work from.
